NATCHEZ MISSISSIPPI – The Healing Clinics celebrated the opening of their first clinic in Mississippi with a ribbon cutting and open house on March 10th, 2023.
The clinic, located at 151 Jeff Davis Blvd. Suite B in Natchez Mississippi, will provide evaluations for those interested in adding medical marijuana to their treatment plan.
Lyn Fortenbery Jenkins, president and CEO of the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce, was among those on hand to welcome The Healing Clinics to Mississippi, “We are excited that you all are embarking on these new businesses and a new line of businesses for Natchez.”
The Healing Clinics is already established in Louisiana with five medical marijuana clinics in place. Kathryn Thomas, CEO and owner of The Healing Clinics, stated, “Folks, today, we are making history in Mississippi!”
Prospective patients in Mississippi can call (601) 653-0510 and complete the initial screening to see if they have any of the qualifying conditions listed by the Mississippi State Department of Health. If so, they can have an appointment scheduled with a physician at The Healing Clinics who can then certify them for medical cannabis. If they have one of the qualifying conditions, patients could receive their electronic ID card as soon as 30 days after their application is submitted. With a card in hand, new patients can go to any licensed dispensary in Mississippi and purchase their medicine.
Dr. Lee Turk, a 40-year Natchez resident and the lead medical marijuana doctor at the clinic explained. “[The patient] receives a complete examination and certifies their qualifying condition to become fully certified by the state. After six months, they return here and I will do a review and see how they’re doing. That’s a requirement for them to be able to keep receiving the product.”
Also on hand was Jacob Irving, J.D., a cannabis industry participant, activist, patient advocate, and attorney on staff. Jacob serves as Regulatory Consultant for The Healing Clinics and Vice President of Consulting Services for Bridge West Consulting. Irving was born with spastic quadriplegia from cerebral palsy and joined the cannabis industry as a student and patient advocate, testifying in front of the Louisiana Legislature to make medical marijuana accessible to himself and other patients. “Seventeen Bills later, we have the actual program that we have today,” Irving added. “What started as a passion project for me became a career.”
