Good Day Farm Expanding Facility in Ruston

Good Day Farm, the largest marijuana producer in Louisiana, is doubling its cultivation capacity with completion expected in the Spring of 2023. The private partner of Louisiana State University (LSU) AgCenter will add 40,000 to the existing 225,000 square feet of their growing and processing facility in Ruston, Louisiana.

David Kirsch, vice president of Ruston operations, explained in a statement to USA Today, “With significant improvement made to the [Louisiana] medical marijuana program by the Legislature, Good Day Farm Louisiana anticipated patient count and demand would eventually increase, so we expanded into a 225,000 square foot facility in Ruston in 2021 with over 220 employees.”

Kirsch added that the company is “planning for the highest forecasted patient needs.” As of mid-2022, nearly 30,000 patients had registered with the program.

The company also operates a smaller growing facility in Baton Rouge that includes a research lab for LSU AgCenter. The AgCenter shared in a recent report that they produced about 17,000 pounds of cannabis in 2022. Good Day Farm spent over $50 million on operations in 2022.

Good Day Farm cites laws such as the authorization of more labs for testing, regulatory oversight being transferred from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture to the Louisiana Department of Health, the reinforced availability of telemedicine, and an uninterrupted, reliable, and adequate supply of products to patients as part of the motivation for their expansion.

The company also has growing facilities in Arkansas, Missouri, and recently, Mississippi.
